Puzzle #356 solution:
Opening theory. This week's best answers are by the top scorers:
a) The name of the opening is the Fried Liver attack
b) White put pressure on the f7-weak spot, looking to win material advantage; when black pushed back, he started to retreat
c) Black defended stubbornly, sometimes using only moves to escape from danger; after the first 8 moves he managed to push the attackers back
d) White has material advantage in both lines; black is better developed, controls the center and has better chances to start a counter attack
In the 8. Qf3 ... line Ng5 can retreat to e4 where the Knight would be more active and offering an exchange; the game offers about equal chances
In the 8. Be2 ... line Ng5 ends up on h3 where it does nothing; in the same time Qd1 is stuck and white's Queen side pieces are not developed; the game is in black's favour
