White has sacrificed 2 pawns to obtain this position with the black King trapped in the center. White to move; your tasks:
a) Attack the black King using the best line you can think of
b) Write down all tactics you (white) are using
Total available points for this puzzle is 20. The answers will be published next time together with puzzle #276.
Puzzle #274 solution:
Enevoldsen – Andersen, DEN 1937. There was no 100% good solution. This is how it should have looked like:
a) Black is up a pawn. Both sides have castled and while the white King is quite safe, the black one is trying to hide behind a stubborn defence. All white pieces are pretty much ready for a final assault, pointing toward the black King; meantime black has at least 3 pieces not helping with the defence (Bb7, Rc8 and Qe8). The first move is crucial as it needs to destroy the base on the defensive pawn chain g7-h6: the g7-pawn.
