In preparation for the September 2013 admission test, I am proposing this puzzle to all candidates wishing to prepare for it. It is 100% similar with the ones included in the test. The puzzle is asking you something really simple:
a) White to move and win
My suggestion is to not only look for the solution, but review all you know about chess up to this point: what pieces are on the board, what they do (if they attack any other piece or not), where they could move and most importantly what is the purpose of the game. If you wish to email me the answer for verification, I will respond to it. Good luck!
There are no available points for this puzzle. The correct answer will be published in September together with puzzle #232.

Puzzle #230 solution:
Study by Kling and Horwitz, 1851. The best answer came from Daniel.
a) See solution
b) The idea is to trap the Black King on the h-file by threatening checkmate so you can get the White King closer to the pawns
