The presence of heavy pieces on the board with lots of space to move around is very scary. Now if you add to this Kings under attack, the general feeling one gets is the game could end at any moment with an unexpected combination. This seems to be the case in our position, so your tasks are:
a) Do a quick analysis and propose the best plans you can think of for each side
b) White to move and execute your proposed plan

Total available points for this puzzle is 20. The answers will be published next week together with puzzle #190.

Puzzle #188 solution:
Ephisin - Simagin, Elista, 1995. Interesting number of ideas on how to solve it and only one correct result: Ziyao. Most of the other solvers found sidelines more or less important.
a) White should try to exploit Black's weakness due to the lack of protecting the Kingside pawns by advancing his own pawns to pressure Black's King out of its safe area.
Black should try to eliminate White's passer and create his own passer from his Queenside majority.
b) Solution
