Today (Jan 9th, 2008) I am going to launch a new feature called "Puzzle of the week". Once a week a new puzzle will be presented here for anyone to solve. You can forward your solutions and comments to me. I will keep track of them, as well as publish here the most interesting ones. The idea is to offer you interesting puzzles of various degrees of difficulty ranging from beginners to advanced. If there is enough interest, we are going to transform "Puzzle of the week" into a contest with nice prizes!

The first puzzle comes from the book "Winning chess endings" by Yasser Seirawan. John Doknjas and I were doing some chess work last night and we came across the above endgame position.
White to move and win
Waiting for your answers until next week when the correct solution will be published together with the next puzzle. Enjoy!
