Another interesting endgame for Jonah at WYCC 2008 Vietnam happened in round 7. That time he was paired against the top player and contender for the title, player not only from India (the newest junior chess power in the World), but also with a decent FIDE rating of 1847. In the game JAIN, Jeet (IND, 1847) - LEE, Jonah (CAN) after 39 moves they reached the above position. See diagram and how the game continued. Questions:
a) Could have White saved the game? If yes, show when and how with explanations (5 points)
b) Did Jonah miss a clear win even at best play for White? If yes, show when and how with explanations (10 points)

This time it seems we had the toughest puzzle so far, nobody managing to get more than 1 answer correct out of the 3 possible. Hopefully everyone will remember tonight's lesson together and will use the same approach in their games. See solution for the correct answers:
