This excellent example of practicing how to win a King + pawn versus King endgame comes courtesy of GM Bogdan Lalic (Croatia). Your tasks:
a) White to move and win
b) What tips will you use to achieve it?

Total available points for this puzzle is 20. The answers will be published next week together with puzzle #259.

Puzzle #257 solution:
Liu – Williams, X Chess Championship 2012. Brandon and Oliver common answer is the chosen one this time around:
"a) Even though if White moves Bb4 and pins the Black bishop, it's the wrong move because if White moves Rc7, it' s mate in one.
b) There is no answer for this question."
Toro's interesting comments:
"1.Rc7#! ... This is a checkmate in one move. Finito, Kaput! The White bishop is protecting the rook and the Black bishop is pinned by the White rook and the pawn is blocking two of the escape squares. A surprising checkmate.”
