13th World Champion, 1985 - 1993 and PCA World Champion 1993 - 2000

Born as Gary Weinstein in Baku, Azerbaycan, USSR in 1963. Kasparov was the youngest World Champion ever at age 22 in 1985. He defended his title with success for 15 years between 1985-2000. Ranked first in the World for nearly 20 years between 1985-2005 when he retired, brought chess into the highlight time and time again with his extraordinary results.
Highest rated player ever, he never backed down from playing humans, or the top computer programs such as IMB's Deep Blue. Kasparov also holds records for consecutive tournament victories (15) and Chess Oscars (11).
